Avoid areas near doors, open windows or
in direct line with coolers or heaters.
Avoid gas injury often found in the kit
chen where raw gas may escape from burn
ers and may cause injury or death to plants.
Indoor foliage and flowering plants have
been a source of enjoyment and beauty for
generations. New ideas in the form of glass
shelves, hanging iron brackets, planterboxes
and colorful pots also keep the interest in
houseplants stimulated.
Here are some suggestions to follow:
WATERING: A suggested amount of water
to apply for any given container is one cu
bic inch of water to each 6 or 8 cubic inches
of soil. This amount can be increased
slightly if plants still wilt after watering at
this rate.
FERTILIZING: Application of fertilizer at
intervals of 1 to 3 months i n proper amounts
should be sufficient. Most fertilizers sold
for indoor plants can be diluted in a weak
form and used for each watering. Over-fer
tilization can injure the plant. Follow the
directions on the package carefully.
DRAINAGE: Submerge pots in a pan of wa
ter and allow the soil to become moistened
from the bottom. Pots with drainage holes
at the bottom can be watered to allow a
small quantity to drain out at each watering.
REASONS FOR FAILURES:
Avoid dark locations as well as full sun
light.
Avoid placing plants in direct line with
