Het ministerie van Financiën
probeert in het bezit te komen van
de enige goudstaaf uit de VOC-tijd.
De goudstaaf is een paar jaar geleden
bij de Kaapverdische Eilanden opge
doken door de Zuid-Afrikaan Glack-
worthy. Glackworthy wil hem laten
veilen bij Christie's in Amsterdam
en het ministerie hoopt dit te voor
komen.
Het ministerie van Financiën
beschouwt de goudstaaf als Neder
lands cultureel erfgoed en vindt dat
hij in een museum thuishoort.
Op vrijdag 2 oktober zullen uitgeverij
Contact en boekhandel Van Stockum
de presentatie verzorgen van Oost-Indi
sche inkt. 400 jaar Indië in de Neder
landse letteren. De samensteller van
het boek, Alfred Birney, zal het eerste
exemplaar aanbieden aan Edy Seriese,
directeur van het Indisch Wetenschap
pelijk Instituut.
De presentatie begint om 16:00 uur
in boekhandel Van Stockum,
Venestraat 11 in Den Haag.
